The Great British Tech Off

This annual networking and presentation event, held at the British Embassy, aims to create an environment that fosters collaboration between the UK and Belgian Tech sectors facilitated by the UK DIT.
The event acts as a forum to celebrate the close ties between British and Belgian Tech sectors, as well as providing an opportunity for 20 of the UK and Belgium’s most promising tech scale-ups to present their solutions.
Representatives from startups, scale-ups and corporates providing solutions in the broad smart city area, in particular related to Artificial Intelligence, 5G, Cybersecurity, Cleantech, Smart Cities and Fintech, made up the majority of the 250 people attending the event.
H.M. Trade Commissioner for Europe, Chris Barton, and H.M. Ambassador to Belgium, Martin Shearman, were the hosts at the event held at the UK Ambassador’s residence in the heart of Brussels.
The day-long event was split into two programs, one for British companies looking to invest in Belgium, and one for Belgian companies looking to expand to the UK.
Workshops and seminars focused on topics such as how to raise funds in Belgium/the UK, as well as how to set up a first investment, and how to establish relationships between the companies, the local DIT representatives, and other local partners.
These hands-on sessions were complemented by thematic workshops on cybersecurity, the metaverse and 5G.
